Welcome to Main Avenue School, Home of the Panthers!

At Main Avenue, we have a dedicated group of teachers, instructional assistants, and support staff that is committed to making a difference in our children’s lives both academically and in their social-emotional development.  Our staff has high expectations for our Panthers, and we are dedicated to the success of every student who walks through our doors.

Our district has fully implemented the Common Core Standards, utilizing Wonders for English Language Arts (ELA) and English Language Development (ELD). This curriculum for both ELA and ELD work in tandem, allowing staff to deliver instruction in a cohesive manner, and for students to receive a more rigorous level of instruction. We also use Scott Foresman Envision Mathematics.  When students have difficulty, we provide the appropriate interventions using the Response to Intervention (RtI) model so students can receive additional support.  Our teachers utilize assessments throughout the year that align with our report cards.

Our district also uses the model for Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS).  At Main Avenue, we have three expectations – Respectful, Responsible, and Safe.  Staff work with students throughout the day, every day, to positively reinforcement our expectations and acknowledge students when they have made good choices.  Students can earn Panther Paws when they have met one of the three expectations.  Our way is the PANTHER WAY!

The relationship between school and home is paramount to student success.  We invite you to visit our campus, volunteer in classrooms, and attend family events and parent conferences.  Please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher if you have concerns or questions regarding their progress in school.  We also have a Parent-Teacher Club (PTC), who actively participates at Main Avenue.  We are fortunate to have their support and encourage others to join!  You can also join our School Site Council (SSC) and English Learner Advisory Council (ELAC).
